The James Monroe High School Lady Mavs Volleyball Team received special recognition from State Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano, local Monroe County Board of Education Members Mr. Danny Lively, Mr. Charles Sams, Monroe County Superintendent Mrs. Joetta Basile, Governor's Representative, Ms. Grose, Athletic Director Johnathan McPherson, Principal Mrs. Lisa Mustain, and Vice-Principal Mrs. Susan Weikle. Dr. Martirano complimented the girls on their dedication to sports and academics. He even asked the team members to recreate for him the winning play! It was a great day to be a Maverick!
West Virginia State Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano visited with some James Monroe High School students on April 30th, 2015. Students pictured above sat down with Dr. Martirano and spoke with him about current issues facing public school students, their experiences at James Monroe High School, and asked for suggestions on how could make West Virginia schools even better. In addition, the volleyball team was recognized for being State Champs! It was a great day to be a Maverick!
