Pierpont Community and Technical College will be hosting an information session on First Energy's Power Systems Institute for current high school seniors on Saturday, November 7 at 10:00am. Students can receive a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in Electric Utility Technology from this school. On November 5, 2015, the JROTC Drill Team cadets competed in the regional drill meet. Once again, our Mavericks competed well. The Maverick cadets placed 2nd in color guard, squad, armed individual and academic categories. They placed 3rd in platoon. Additionally, JROTC cadet leader, Callie Davis, placed 8th out of over 100 in individual drill. Go Mavs!

Kelly Shreve, threat preparedness coordinator, visited JMHS on November 3rd to speak with Juniors and Seniors about sexual health. She presented information about making healthy choices and protecting oneself. Thank you Mrs. Shreve and Monroe Health Center for working with our students!
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards recognize students in middle and high school grades who have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. Student volunteers must submit applications by November 3. Applications can be found online at http://spirit.prudential.com or www.nassp.org/spirit. State honorees will receive an unrestricted award of $1,000 and an all-expense paid trip with a parent to Washington D.C. in May 2015. Ten students will be selected as National Honorees, and they will receive $5,000 awards.
