On Tuesday, November 18th JMHS hosted two guest speakers for our juniors and seniors during Advisory.
Don Dransfield, a Monroe County 4-H agent, spoke to our juniors on the importance of community service. His presentation highlighted community service opportunities in our area and the importance of logging community service hours for college admissions, college scholarships and job resumes. See his presentation here. Courtney Smith, a member of the Greater Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation board, spoke to our seniors about WV job opportunities and outlook. She also discussed community service opportunities in our area and why community service is important for college admissions, college scholarships and job resumes. She then discussed the importance of writing a unique college admissions essay, and she provided several examples for the students. If you missed the presentation or you would like more information, visit the foundation's website at http://www.gvfoundation.org/. We are thankful for these two community members for volunteering their time to come speak with our students. Both Mr. Dransfield and Mrs. Smith are willing to help students with any questions they may have now or in the future.
