Maddie Mohler, a senior at James Monroe High School, was selected to participate in the 2019 High School All-State Choir, held during the annual meeting of the WV Choral Directors Association, in Charleston. Students from all over the state traveled to the capitol city on Thursday, January 24th, and engaged in three days of intense rehearsal before the performances on the afternoon of Saturday, January 26th. The high school choir, was conducted by Dr. Troy Robertson, Director of Choirs at Tarleton State University, in Texas. Rehearsals were held in the Civic Center, and the Baptist Temple provided the venue for the Saturday performances. Prospective Honor Choir members must e nominated by a member of the Choral Directors Association, and then audition for a spot in the choir. Auditions for thie year's program were held in November at WV Wesleyan College, Buckhannon. Maddie is instructed by Carri Honaker Neese, Choir Director at Lewisburg United Methodist Church. Congratulations to James Monroe Senior Morgan Wylie for signing her national letter-of-intent to play basketball at Bluefield college today!
All JMHS Seniors will complete the American Citizenship Test on Thursday, February 21st during their Civics classes. All seniors should make plans to attend.

JMHS Junior Bryce Sabol competed in the JROTC National Air Rifle competition at Camp Perry Ohio this past Saturday and Sunday. Bryce finished 29th out of 107 individual shooters. Great job Bryce!
jmhs national honor society campus beautification COMMITTEE completes winter service project2/15/2019
Members of the National Honor Society Campus Beautification Committee completed their winter service project on February 15th. The committee worked very hard scrubbing and shining the bleachers in the gym in preparation for senior night. Administration and staff are thankful for their service.

Engineers Week (February 17-23, 2019) is a national, annual celebration of how engineers make a difference in our world, with goals to increase public dialogue about the need for engineers and to bring engineering to life for kids, educators, and parents. This year, WVU's Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources is sponsoring an essay/problem solving competition for West Virginia K-12 students. You can see the prompts, judging schedule, and awards for each level below.
All submissions must be received by Wednesday, February 13 at 5 p.m. Winners will be notified by email and announced on social media. Make sure to follow the Statler College on Twitter and Facebook.
