On Thursday, November 14th the James Monroe High School National Honor Society Kindness Committee hosted an appreciation breakfast for emergency responders at the Peterstown Volunteer Fire Department. The committee thanked attendees on behalf of the JMHS National Honor Society for their continued support of our community and school. ABRAHAM V. CHUKES, TSgt , USAF, Air Force Recruiter, Enlisted Accessions, AB Matthew Conway and A1C Jesse Kazner visited with James Monroe High School juniors on November 13th, 2019 to encourage students to study hard to prepare for the future. They discussed discipline, goals, and possible careers within the military.
James Monroe High School celebrated College Exploration Week November 4th -9th, hosting representatives from West Virginia University, Marshall University, New River Community and Technical Center-Lewisburg, WVU Institute of Technology, New River Community College-Dublin, Va, and Concord University. Students were able to visit with admissions representatives, complete applications, inquire about scholarships and play trivia games. Students won prizes throughout the week for participating. Students were encouraged to compete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.gov), apply to colleges, and complete scholarship applications.

Allison St. Clair, RN, MSN, Certified School Nurse, taught James Monroe High School seniors CPR and First Aid on October 30th, 2019. The training had both classroom and hands on learning, and gave students the opportunity to practice administering first aid and CPR to mannequins.
