The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is the largest scholarship foundation in the country. Scholarship recipients may receive up to $40,000 per year for up to four years; pursue any area of study; take advantage of individual college advising; and have the opportunity to network with other high-achievers within the JKCF Scholar community. To be considered, applicants must plan to graduate in the spring of 2016 with intentions of attending a 4-year college. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 with test scores in the top 15% (SAT - 1200 or ACT - 26) and demonstrate financial need. The application deadline is October 31. The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program rewards students who possess the character to succeed in life. The program desires to help students overcome the financial barriers of pursuing higher education. Applicants must be high school seniors with a 2.0 GPA or higher that demonstrate financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income). Applicants should exhibit a strong commitment to pursue a bachelor's degree. They should be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, and they must display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity. The Wendy’s High School Heisman Program is looking for all types of high-achieving seniors who participate in a wide range of sports and school and community activities. Applicants must have a GPA at or above 3.0 and participate in at least one school sponsored sport. They must also be a leader in school and in the community and serve as a role model for underclassman. Finalists will participate in a Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York City that will air on ESPN2. Winners at each level will receive Wendy's gift cards. Finalists will win money for James Monroe High School. Applications must be submitted by October 2nd.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed annually by current and prospective college students in order to determine eligibility and receive state and federal financial aid.
