On Tuesday, May 6th the JMHS JROTC program will present a live demonstration of the American Civil War. Teachers have been invited to take their classes to view the demonstration throughout the day. The demonstration will consist of four stations
though which students will rotate: #1 - Why War?, #2 - Civil War Medicine and Letters Home, #3 - Confederate Infantry, #4 - Union Cavalry. We are pleased to have the support of the Greenbrier and Monroe County Historical Societies, as well as, some local reenactors. This is a terrific experience for our students! Thanks to the JROTC instructors for setting this up! St. Mary’s Medical Center, located in Huntington WV, is having its 4th Annual Free Health Professions Academy this June 2014. High school sophomores and juniors are encouraged to attend. The academy is a three day event beginning on June 3rd. Applications are available on www.st-marys.org , click on education and training at top of page then scroll to bottom. The application deadline is May 1st.
