Camp STEM is a weeklong exploration of careers in science, technology, engineering and math that will be held from June 23 – 28, 2019. Camp STEM brings students to WVU Tech’s campus in Beckley, West Virginia for college-level STEM instruction. Students can attend courses in a variety of STEM fields such as computer science, chemistry, automotive engineering, electrical engineering and forensic science as WVU Tech professors guide them through experiments, provide lectures and give demonstrations. Outside the classroom, students will work in teams on a weeklong robotics project, attend guest lectures by STEM professionals and embark on fields trips. The cost for this camp is $600 per camper, but we offer a limited number full and partial need-based scholarships. At Camp STEM, students will experience campus life by living in our residence halls, eating in WVU Tech’s Bears Den dining hall and relaxing in one of our campus recreation facilities. Students are supervised by WVU Tech student counselors, who are upper-classmen studying STEM disciplines. You can find more information for students to register online at campstem.wvutech.edu. Congratulations to James Monroe Senior McKinley Mann for signing her national letter-of-intent to play basketball at Concord University today!
Student members of the National Honor Society Campus Beautification Committee volunteered to assist with campus cleanup in preparation for the 2019 JMHS Prom. The committee was blessed with the help of several of their peers who spotted them working and decided to join them in their efforts. We are grateful to have hard-working, civic-minded students at JMHS!
