"The French, German, and Journalism classes at James Monroe High School celebrated multicultural month by getting into the holiday spirit. Students adopted a country or region, created a holiday ornament with a theme from there, and prepared articles for The Maverick Express describing how Christmas or a similar holiday was celebrated at that location. French students chose from the long list of francophone countries and regions such as Belgium, Chad, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Haiti, Louisianna, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, and Quebec. German students chose from a list of German-speaking countries and regions including Austria, Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg, Hessen, Sachsen, and Switzerland. Journalism students wrote articles on any country of their choosing and are formatting those from the world language classes for The Maverick Express. These will be forthcoming over the next week and you can check them out at this link: https://maverickexpress.org/category/features/.
