Students the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation scholarship application is now available online. The deadline for this scholarship application is January 15th. The State Fair of West Virginia, in association with corporate, civic and individual contributors, will offer five $1,000 scholarships in 2014. The State Fair Scholarship Program recognizes youth who have participated in the State Fair, excel academically and have a proven financial need. Applicants must be pursuing a vocational trade, associate or bachelor degree. All applicants must have participated in the junior livestock show, equine show or 4-H and FFA Youth exhibit program within the previous five years. The West Virginia Junior Chamber International Senate is soliciting applications for the $1,000 US Senate Foundation Grants. The awards are granted on the basis of scholarship, a personal statement outlining the applicant's college goals, demonstrated leadership ability, financial need, and other criteria. It is very important to obtain several reference letters for this application. All graduating seniors with a 2.5 or higher are eligible for this $50,000 scholarship. Students must apply online by January 10, 2014. Students are asked to write an original and creative essay of 1,000 words or less that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. The National High School Oratorical Scholarship Program is a constitutional speech contest. Students will prepare an oration on the Constitution of the United States.
