WACE will award 195 merit co-op scholarships this year through this program. To be considered for the scholarship, students must apply to one of the eleven WACE partner institutions and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. Early applications are encouraged. Seniors interested in attending Potomac State College must submit scholarship forms to the college by February 15th. Also on that date, the college will be hosting its Open House. This is an opportunity for students and parents to interact with college students and faculty to get a glimpse of the total PSC experience.
The WV Farm Bureau will be giving two, $500 scholarships to FFA members. In order to apply for this scholarship, the FFA members' parents/guardians must be members of the Farm Bureau.
Please send a completed WV FFA Foundation Scholarship application found on the WV FFA website and in the counseling office with with an essay answering this question, “How will you continue to be involved in agriculture once you graduate from high school?” to Michelle Wilfong 2350 Wesley Chapel Rd., Dunmore, WV 24934. (Please do not send these applications to WV FFA Association). The two winner's essays and their pictures will then be published in the WV Farm Bureau magazine. The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources is hosting its first ever essay contest. The contest is open to students in grades 9-12. Essays will be judged by Statler College Ambassadors on the quality of writing, with a focus on student's main idea and creativity. There are two student divisions based on grade. The prompts for each division are listed below. Prizes and awards will be given at the county, regional and state levels. Senior winners may receive a WVU Statler College scholarship. 9th/10th Writing Prompt: Discuss an engineering achievement that has impacted the state of West Virginia. 11th/12th Writing Prompt: Pick an engineering discipline offered at WVU (mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, etc.) and discuss career opportunities for this type of engineer within the state of West Virginia. The Bonner Scholars Program is a community service scholarship program that provides financial assistance to students in return for a commitment to perform 140 hours of community service per semester while enrolled as a student. Participants will be involved in student development and training activities. The program awards $17,000 over four years for educational expenses. Student selection is based on volunteer experience, academic success, and financial need. The application deadline is
