The purpose of the Albert Yanni Scholarship Program is to provide incentives, high expectations and encouragement for talented career and technical students to pursue advanced education and training related to their technical disciplines. The West Virginia Pumpkin Festival is offering three scholarships to current seniors entering a public West Virginia college or university in the fall of 2015. The amount of each scholarship is $2,000. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or above and must have completed the required community service. The 2015 Little General Store Inc. Scholarship Program is now accepting applications. This year the program is offering at least ten $1,000 scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement and need. Students will answer a few questions regarding their past accomplishments and future aspirations to assist the independent panel in selecting the recipients. Click here for an application. The Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) recruits and educates young men and women who are academically qualified, hard-working and assertive, but who would otherwise find college financially challenging. Our goal is to develop these
young men and women into skilled citizens and future leaders for Appalachia and the Nation. Our core values are to develop a sense of integrity in everything our Fellows do;to instill an ingrained belief in service-before-self; and to guide them to strive for character, leadership, and technical excellence. Applicants must: * Be a graduating high-school senior. * Must complete the FASFA forms. (on-line www.fafsa.ed.gov) * Have at least a 3.2 grade point average (GPA). ALEF scholarships will be awarded to deserving students whose academic credentials fall within an average range to above average range. * Have exhibited character and leadership skills through academic or athletic extracurricular activities. * Express an interest to remain in West Virginia following graduation. * Be accepted by one of the participating college/universities (Concord, Shepherd or Marshall) To apply visit http://alefwv.org/apply_files/scholar_app_new.pdf . The Mission West Virginia Scholarship Program will provide at least two scholarships this year to help youth who experienced a foster care placement for 12 months OR youth who had a parent incarcerated for 12 months during their childhood. The scholarship will help pay for tuition and fees, room and board, books, supplies, transportation or computers. Applications are due March 1. Recipients will be notified by April 15.
