A CompTIA A+ course is being hosted at the New River C&TC Princetom Campus on Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21. Any individual 16 years of age or older are welcome to participate. The training is FREE and allows participants who complete the training to receive free course materials and testing vouchers to achieve certification. The Claire M. LaPlante Engineering Scholarship is an award of $50,000 to one West Virginia resident completing high school and attending WVU's Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering. The scholarship is strictly merit-based, and not need-based. Applicants must have a minimum, cumulative high school GPA of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale, a minimum SAT score of 1400, or a minimum ACT score of 32. Applicants must also maintain membership in the WVU Honors College. Please stop by for more application information.
Below are the requirements to be eligible for the Hagan Scholarship. Please note that you must meet all of the eligibility requirements:
1. Must be a citizen of the United States. 2. Must attend a traditional public high school locaed in the U.S. that is governed by a school district. 3. Must have a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA). 4. Must enroll at an eligible four-year college or university following high school graduation. 5. Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule in college. 6. Must work 240 hours from January 1, 2024 until commencement of the 2024 fall semester in college Work must be regularly scheduled employment performed under supervision for compensation. 7. Applicant's Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2022 Federal Income Tax purposes must not have exceeded $85,000. 8. Finalists must provide a copy of the FAFSA SAR showing their EFC. 9. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible. 10. Must not have a felony conviction. Please view the file below for the October Scholarship newsletter. Each scholarship has a different deadline ranging from October 29 to January 24, so please make sure to read the entirety of the information required for each scholarship.
New River CTC is working in collaboration with Glenville State University to organize a free CompTIA A+ Boot Camp at the Lewisburg campus. The boot camp will take place on August 25 from 6pm to 9pm, and on August 26 and 27 from 9am-5pm. They are providing a comprehensive training to support individuals interested in obtaining their CompTIA A+ certification. They will be providing all participants with free training materials and testing vouchers that include a free retake option.

Participants simply need to express their desire to register through the boot camp, and Peggy will guide them through the registration process. AP Testing begins on May 6th this year. Good luck to all students sitting for the test! Remember, students must sit for the test to earn the weighted GPA credit. If you don't sit for the exam, the weighted credit will not be awarded.
