Applications are open for the 2017 Princeton Summer Journalism Program. This all-expenses-paid journalism and college preparation program at Princeton University serves high school juniors from low-income backgrounds. Students learn reporting skills from celebrated journalists, report and write their own newspaper, and are paired with a counselor who oversees their college admissions process. SJP alumni have gone on to jobs and internships at The New York Times, The New Yorker, NPR, and many other news outlets.

MetroNews believes that education is the key to a successful future! They are proud to announce the 2016 West Virginia Scholar Program. The application deadline April 16th. MetroNews in partnership with West Virginia Wesleyan will award a full scholarship which includes four-years of tuition, fees, room and board to one lucky student . This scholarship is valued at $160,000 and will be awarded to a student in West Virginia who is currently a member of their junior class in high school. On Tuesday, February 14th student scholars at JMHS were recognized for their efforts in the classroom. During Advisory, students on the A and AB Honor Rolls for the first semester were awarded discount keytags for use at JMHS events this spring. Students on the Promise Track were also recognized for their efforts. And Mr. Eades highlighted the accomplishments of the Math and Science Team this year. Keep up the good work Mavs! You make us proud!
On Friday, February 10th the director of the Summers County LPN school will be at JMHS to speak with students interested in a career in nursing. She will be meeting with students at 8:30 in Mrs. Bennett's classroom. Thank you Mrs. Bennett for setting this up for our students!
