The West Virginia Pumpkin Festival is offering three scholarships to current seniors entering a public West Virginia college or university in the fall of 2016. The amount of each scholarship is $2,000. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or above and must have completed the required community service. The Minuteman Scholarship is an Army Officer producing program for the West Virginia Army National Guard. It is a 4 year scholarship opportunity for High School Seniors and Currently Serving West Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers planning on starting college in the fall semester of 2017. The Minuteman Scholarship is also a 2 –3 year scholarship opportunity for Currently Serving West Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers who are currently attending college. The intent of the Minuteman Scholarship is to recruit individuals who possess the character, intellect, and leadership attributes to become successful leaders of Soldiers in the West Virginia Army National Guard and leaders in the industries and communities of West Virginia.
Target Applicants: Students who are well-rounded scholars, athletes, leaders within the student body, and community. The applicatioin must be in the hands of your local recruiter before March 17th. Students must have a cumulative GPA between a 2.5 and 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, and plan to enroll full time for the 2017-18 academic year at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school. The PROMISE Scholarship is a merit-based financial aid program for West Virginia residents. Students who have earned a 3.0 core and overall GPA AND have a 22 composite with a minimum subtest score of 20 in each area are eligible for this scholarship. Eligible high school graduates will receive annual awards up to $4,750 to cover the cost of tuition and mandatory fees at public or independent institutions in West Virginia. The application deadline is March 1. Students must have completed the FAFSA in order to receive PROMISE.
The GFWC WV Woman's Club scholarship will be due to the school counseling office on March 15, 2017. The scholarship is open to all WV high school seniors who have been residents of WV for at least three years. Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation, a transcript and a college acceptance letter. Recipients will be selected based on financial need, academic information, leadership/school activities and community service. Stop by the counseling office for an application.

The West Virginia Association of Conservation Districts awards nine $500 college scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan on majoring in an agriculture related field. Students must submit applications to their Conservation District Office by the first Monday in March. Administrative Officers forward applications to the Chairman of the Conservation Districts Education Committee by the first Monday in April. Recipients will be notified in May.
